A Splurge & a Must Have
I have been slacking on my "Beauty" related posts, and I apologize. I wish I could just stay at home with zero priorities drink coffee, and blog all day.... but lets be real, I work for a living. I could never sit at home all day and do nothing. That's just not who I am. I have bills, student loans, and a car payment that I'm solely responsible for. I'd love to dedicate more time to my blog as a whole, but It's hard finding the time in between work, going to the gym, and taking care of Dustin & I.... but I'm going to work harder to post more often. Being in the beauty industry I have a ton of tips, tricks, and information I could share with all of you, and I will slowly but surely begin to do so. As for today, I'll be sharing with you two items I picked up at Sephora a few days ago. I spend A LOT of time at Sephora & Ulta, understandably so, I'm a Cosmetologist, I get to play with beauty products for a living! This week I picked up one of my biggest makeup must haves, and a new treat, follow along below to learn more :)
A Splurge & a Must Have
Benefit Stay Flawless 15 Hour Primer:
As you all know this is my holy grail primer, I'm in love with this little guy. Benefit comes out with some incredible cosmetics, and overall, I'm obsessed with this makeup line. This was a repurchase from Sephora, so this wasn't too exciting... Except it is! Loving a product so much that you repurchase it, is a huge deal to me. It's rare that you find a makeup product you whole heartedly believe in, and works for you. I have tried pretty much every drugstore primer under the sun and a select few high end primers. Primers are a bit pricey, so I try not to splurge too often, but I will say it is the best investment you will make when it comes to your makeup. Primer is basically insurance for your makeup, so never skimp on it! As for this little guy, he was pretty costly at $27.00 but not as expensive as another favorite of mine (Smashbox Photo Finish) which is nice. Stay Flawless is a stick primer, that you glide along your face then blend out with your fingers. It truly smooths out the skin, and provides an even, soft base for your makeup to cling to. I love this primer because it DOES last up to 15 hours! When I worked at a tiny authentic Italian restaurant in the heart of the Old Port, I was constantly moving around and sweating my little butt off, and this primer made my foundation stay glued to my face. Around that time I had two jobs, one at a salon, and one at a restaurant and I was easily pulling 12+ hour days, with this primer I never needed a single touch up. I remember going home each day and looking at my face and not wanting to take my makeup off because it still looked beautiful. I'm crazy about this primer because it blurs the appearance of my pores, and really makes my makeup last all day. If you're even considering trying out this primer, DO NOT BUY IT! Go directly to a Benefit counter near you and ask for a sample! They have little mini's all ready to go for you, they're cute and an inexpensive way to try new Benefit products.
Too Faced Born This Way foundation:
I've always been a big advocate for Too Faced Cosmetics. I'm obsessed with their Boudoir Eye shadow Palette as well as the Chocolate Bar Eye shadow collection. I've been dying to try their new blushes, as well as the Cocoa Contour palettes and bronzers... they just smell so good. I've been dying to try this new foundation from Too Faced! I've heard only good things about this foundation for those with dry skin. I've heard this foundation doesn't play nice with oily skin types. My skin type is Combination - Acne prone, so this foundation is right up my alley. This is what the Born This Way foundation is claiming to provide:
"Born This Way is an oil-free foundation that masterfully diffuses the line between makeup and skin. For coverage so undetectable, you can't see the makeup and you can't see imperfections - all that's left is naturally radiant skin that looks like you were Born This Way. This revolutionary foundation is infused with a potent combination of coconut water to naturally replenish moisture levels; nature's resilient alpine rose to brighten the skin's appearance and promote elasticity and hyaluronic acid for a smoother, more youthful appearance." source: Ulta
Let me just say... this stuff is GOLD in a bottle. I was 100% convinced I needed to try this foundation when I heard it was infused with coconut oil & provided a radiant glow to the skin. I've only been wearing this foundation for about three days now, but my first impression so far is that it's a miracle worker. I wore this foundation with my Benefit primer for about eight-ish hours and my foundation wasn't settling in any areas, or clinging to any of my dry patches on my cheeks. My skin did look more hydrated and had an "angelic-like glow" to it (I kid you not) What I'm loving about this foundation is that it doesn't look masky, or too much, it does look like your "true" skin. I'm a big fan of moisturizing foundations, because I am super dry especially this time of year. We're now in the late stages of autumn here in Maine and it's almost winter time, so I need to update my beauty routine to help keep my skin looking its best. I have high hopes for this foundation, and so far I'm loving how this wears on the skin, and the hydration it delivers. I will say this foundation is VERY pigmented so you'll only need one pump to cover your entire face. This is a medium to full coverage foundation so if you're looking for something that is a full coverage foundation that truly feels light on the skin, I would highly suggest you try this bad boy out.
