Summertime Hair Care Essentials
Hey guys and happy Thursday! Sorry for being a little MIA for most of the week. It's been a crazy busy week for me, and I haven't had the time to write up a blog post. I must say, a little time away from social media has done wonders for my mind. I feel more refreshed, and ready to write a few killer posts this month. I managed to find a cute red dress for the fourth and had an awesome holiday weekend. We spent most of our days off at the beach, getting sunburned, and cooking on the grill. We couldn't have had a better weekend together and for that I'm thankful. This week has absolutely flown by, and I'm trying my best to keep organized. This month is all about having fun, and enjoying our time left here in Maine.
Today, I wanted to do a hair related post on the blog....how fitting! It's crazy, I work in the beauty field and manage to write only self-improvement, health related type of posts. As much as beauty is a big part of my life, health and self care trumps all and that's exactly the type of blog this is. I'm here to write, inspire, and teach you all to be the best you can through beauty, and self care related posts. It's nuts how much my blog has grown and evolved in just one year.
Alright, lets get on with it! Last week I realized something big... I've completely changed up my hair care products for summer! Last week I went to my fabulous friend Jenna for a trim, and realized how much my hair has grown. My hair used to be as short as my chin, and now, it's a good four inches past my collarbones. This year I really wanted to grow my hair out, get it to be longer, stronger, and more blonde. Since being out of the salon, I've let go of my deep conditioning treatments, monthly trims, and overall, upkeep of my color. I know, it's totally crazy, but I find myself with healthier hair. My hair no longer feels brittle, it's so much softer now. I made it a goal in 2016 to avoid hot tools, and really give my hair a break and finally, I'm seeing the results. As much as I love styling my hair, less is more in terms of growth. I've put my hot tools away, and almost always let my hair air dry. I've embraced my beachy, curly hair and in turn, have become more comfortable with my natural texture. Today I'm doing a hair care update on three of my summertime hair care essentials. Keep scrolling to find out what I'm using this month.
Summertime Hair Essentials
Summertime means hot temperatures, beach days, and dry hair. With constant trips to the beach and basking in the sun, your hair is bound to feel a little fried. Those pesky UV rays, humidity, and chlorinated waters can strip your color, and completely wipe out your shine. No one wants brittle, dry hair. Today I'm sharing 3 products I'm loving for summertime to keep your hair looking gorgeous, soft, and sexy.
It's a 10 Miracle Leave In Product
This is one of those products absolutely anyone can use. This is a salon grade product you can find at your local salons, or wherever professional products are sold. This is the type of product every girl should have in her beauty arsenal. This product is ultimately your best friend, you simply apply is either apply it to damp hair, or dry to reap all of its 10 benefits. I personally apply this to damp hair, to ensure the cuticle is sealed, and also acts as a leave in conditioner. This product does 10 incredible things for your hair: 1. Repairs dry hair 2. Adds shine 3. Detangles 4. Controls frizz 5. Seals & protects hair color 6. Prevents split ends 7. Stops hair breakage 8. Creates silkiness 9. Enhances natural body 10. Thermal protector. This was actually one of the first leave in products I purchased at the Salon supply store when receiving my Cosmetology license. I was so excited for my discount that I practically threw everything insight in my basket and snagged this for 50% off. Even after three years of having my license, I still love this product. It adds shine, protection, and softness to the hair, and is for all hair types.
Not Your Mothers Beach Babe Texturing Sea Salt Spray
Again, this is one of those products any gal can use. I snagged this steal at Ulta for only $2.99! One day I just went on a Ulta haul and purchased several travel sized products and this was one of them. Let me just say, the coconut scent of this spray instantly reminds me of summertime. It takes me back to spending days at the beach, slathering on Tropicana sunscreen, and sipping fruity drinks. I know it may sound weird, but when a product can bring back a memory, you're more bound to use it. What I seriously love about this product is the fact that it can be used on damp, or dry hair. Regardless if your hair is damp, this spray will give you a ton of natural texture. This salt spray not only smells amazing, it honestly adds a ton of body and beachy texture to the hair. I personally have a natural curly/wavy texture already, but this spray enhances my natural texture. I use this spray on days where I don't have a lot of time to spend on my hair. If I'm running late, I just generously mist this spray in my hair, and let my hair air dry. The result is gorgeous, beachy type of waves, and sometimes, a more defined curl. On days where I'm hitting the beach and want a messy look, I'll mist this into dry hair, for more unique texture and spin my hair into a high bun and let it sit for an hour or two. After awhile, I'll let my hair down, and have unique texture, and more body overall. I love this spray because it's so versatile and who doesn't want sexy, beach babe hair? I certainly do! If you're looking for a product that is easy, low in cost and is travel friendly, I highly suggest trying this product!
Moroccan Oil Morrocanoil Treatment
This is one product that I use almost every single day. Yep, it's just that good. This is a product that's a little costly, at $20-$44 but worth every single penny. This is one of my ultimate, hair care must haves at all times. Before discovering this miracle oil, my hair was lifeless, super dry, and lackluster. When a friend introduced me to the Morrocan Oil hair care line, I was a little hesitant at first, but then I read all the reviews. This hair treatment had won best hair treatment, best hair repairing treatment, and favorite oil of hair care professionals year after year. I knew I had to have it. Fast forward three years and I'm still crazy obsessed with this miracle oil. I love this oil because it works. This oil is rich in conditioning properties and reparative proteins, and can be used in any step of hair care. If I'm deep conditioning my hair at home, I'll add a dash of this oil, and my hair in turn, is super silky. I use this oil to tame frizz, and smooth my hair, while it repairs damage. I personally use this more often on days where I toss my hair in a messy bun, for more added conditioning. Again, the smell of the argan oil completely takes me back to summertime. This is something you will always find in my beach bag, year after year. I love adding this oil into my hair after a long day at the beach, as it feels more nourished, and softer as a whole. This product can be used on dry, or damp hair and can be used on every hair type. If you're looking for a reparative hair care treatment especially for the summertime, I highly suggest investing in this miracle oil.
Summertime is one of those seasons where we all tend to neglect our hair. It's crucial to take care of our hair, especially when the temps soar in the upper 80's-90's. We must take the appropriate action, wear sunscreen always and be mindful that our scalps can too, get sunburnt. The best way to protect our hair in the hot season is to keep our scalps covered, and protected from the harsh UV rays. To keep your color from fading, and strands from frizzing, add a beauty oil to your daily routine and don't leave home without a hat. If you're planning a beach day with the girls, don't forget to add an extra step in your hair care routine to ensure protection from the sun. I promise, your hair will thank you :)
