Life Lately & Newness

Hello lovelies! I feel like it's been forever since I've done a chatty, catch up post so here it is! Dustin and I have been in Texas for almost two months now and so far it's been quite the change. I was totally sad about leaving New England before the fall foliage arrived, but that's just the way it happened. We moved to Dallas around mid September, but it feels like it was just yesterday. So far, we're really liking the new change of pace. Since being here, we've only experienced nothing but good things. I swear, karma is coming around full circle and finally giving us what we truly deserve, and for that I'm thankful. I'm extremely pleased with scoring a huge, huge promotion at Sephora, and I could not love the team of girls I get to lead. They are all just so sweet, down to earth and just so gorgeous. Dustin couldn't be happier that his commute to work is only two miles away, something he's longed for, for quite some time now. Also, I'm still in shock of how cheap it is to live in this big, beautiful city. Our rent is crazy inexpensive, and we're still managing to save a huge chunk out of our checks each month. Texas as a whole just has so much to offer and I can't wait to see what it brings us. Also, I'm super pumped to explore - more of Dallas, Houston, Austin, everywhere! I swear since driving cross country the travel bug has bit me hard. There is so much newness surrounding my life lately, I'm just going to tell you about a few little things!

I made a big investment

I finally decided to treat myself, and buy that camera that I had been eyeing!  For the past five years, I had been wanting a nice DSLR but just didn't have an extra $500-$600 laying around to do, until now. Texas has been so good to Dustin and I, and the cost of living is so cheap that we're able to save hundreds each month. I finally caved and invested in a Nikon d3400 and I'm obsessed! It was definitely satisfying to be able to finally afford to buy the one thing I had been wanting for years. I had only used Canons so using a Nikon is a little bit of an adjustment for me. I'm constantly traveling and going on adventures, and what better way then to document my travels than to take pictures? Especially since moving, I want to have a decent camera to show the rest of my family and friends back home what Texas really looks like. Taking photos has always been a fun hobby of mine and I can't wait to learn more about photography.

We rescued a kitten!

Dustin and I found a small kitten living around our apartment complex. He was absolutely terrified of people, and constantly running from anyone who tried to rescue him. He was insanely thin, and very young. You could just tell he was malnourished and clearly didn't have a home. Luckily, our neighbor who knew we wanted to rescue him somehow grabbed him and kept him at his apartment. When we first got him into our apartment, he had a totally different personality. He wasn't scared, or trying to run from us. All he wanted to do was cuddle, purr, and be held. Originally, I was the one who said when we rescued him we would bring him to the shelter. Dustin of all people - the one that's allergic to cats told me he wanted to keep him. We had been wanting to expand our family-without having any babies of our own, and thought this was the perfect time to do so. We were lucky enough that Pablo instantly took to his new little brother and warmed up to him quickly. I quickly decided on the name North, because he reminded me so much of home, in the strangest way. North has quickly grown accustomed to his new life as an inside cat. He is finally at a much healthier weight and enjoys kneading Dustins beard in the morning, cuddling constantly, and harassing his brother Pablo.
