My Journey into Becoming an ACE CPT
Hello lovelies! How is everyone doing so far this June? As you may have read earlier in my "Life Lately & a Big Announcement" post, I have decided to FINALLY chase my dreams a little. I am so excited to finally be entering the health/fitness/wellness world. Since last year, I've been heavily debating on taking this certification. Finally after a year of tossing the idea around, I jumped right in! This March I ordered all of my supplies, and signed up to study to become an ACE Certified Personal Trainer! Again, if you've missed my last post, I highly recommend going back to get all the details. Today I wanted to update you all on my progress so far, how it's going, and everything in between, so, lets jump right in!
How long have I been studying?
In early March I signed up for my materials, and finally, I dove into the program on April 8th-my birthday! It was the BEST gift I could have ever given myself. And a super amazing way to dive into my 24th year!
How much did it cost?
I received a KILLER discount, thank god! Or else I probably wouldn't have been able to afford it otherwise. I highly suggest if you're entering the program, wait until they run a special!
Why did I choose ACE?
I have a ton of friends that recommended ACE over anything else, which is exactly why I went for it. My program gives me textbooks, as well as online videos, and plenty of support to reach out to incase I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I was super hesitant at first because I thought it was all so technical, but the videos and just the study guide is super helpful.
Is it challenging?
At first, I was honestly pretty worried because I'm not very "technical" if that makes sense. I'm more of a creative learner, hands on, and I need to be able to apply my knowledge in order to truly use and understand it. I already knew going into it, the Anatomy and Nutrition parts I would have down, and they have been smooth sailing for me. The Kinesiology has been very challenging for me to truly grasp-but I have so many resources to help me (thank god!) I've only been studying and plugging away at this certification for two months, so I'm a good part of the way through it. I think the hardest part for me, in all of this....has been finding time. If I didn't have a full time job, and could stay home all day, this would be done in a matter of two-three months tops. Lets be real here, I don't have the luxury of staying home all day. I totally wish I could just sit at home and study for hours on end, and have no worries, but that's just not how it is. Finding that work-life-and school balance is SO HARD! I have been SERIOUSLY struggling to find time to study, balance work, my relationships, and just stay sane. I will say I'm quite proud of how much I've been able to handle, and accomplish in this certification in a few short months. Yes, it's challenging at times, but it's so worth it.
What do I like about ACE?
Honestly, EVERYTHING! I love how the program is set up! I love that I have a few short videos to watch, quizzes, and a good chunk of reading to do, and then I take a big quiz! The program is 100% flawless, the set up, how it breaks it down for you, is literally perfect. I love their online website and unlimited resources, it's just so helpful.
What do you dislike?
I just don't like the fact that I can't dedicate more hours out of the day to study and work my way through the program faster. Again, I just don't have the luxury of staying home all day to study.
What am I excited about?
I'm honestly super excited when I pass a test. It makes me feel on top of the world. I love when I truly grasp a concept and can fully understand it, and truly apply it. I love knowing that there is a light at the end of this tunnel. That eventually, I'll be a Certified Personal Trainer! I am so very excited to dive into this career field- wearing yoga pants and rocking a top knot! I love that in a few short months, I'll be taking a test to become certified, and be able to work in a gym. I am seriously soooo excited you guys. I can't wait to enter the health and wellness world. There is just so much endless opportunity and I can't wait to combine my passions and put it into a career that I'll be sure to love. I am most excited about that this is just the tip of the iceberg for me, that this will lead to more options, and open up new doors for me.
I will be sharing my journey through the ACE CPT program here on the blog to keep you all updated on how I'm doing! I truly can't wait to see where this program takes me. It's been challenging in some aspects so far (kinesiology is sooo hard!) but in others, it's been amazing. I'm honestly super proud of myself for finally diving back into school, and making positive changes that will truly impact my life, and the lives of others.
I can't wait to share more with you on my progress, and tell you more about my journey through the ACE CPT program!
