(The Little Things) 5 Things That Are Making Me Happy Right Now

It's all about the little things.....

I'm the type of person who truly cherishes every moment, and appreciates the beauty in all things. I've always lived by the saying: "It's the little things" meaning: It's the little things in life, you need to appreciate every single thing, big or small. Count your blessings, and appreciate all the small things that happen to you. Life can get very overwhelming at times, and it can be  hard not to say, "Wow this day really sucked." and continue to drown in pity, but that's why we all need to take a step back and analyze these moments, to find beauty in the chaos. I tend to look at all the small details of everything, and that helps me be a more positive, thankful human being. I want to start a weekly post dedicated to "The Little Things" I will be sharing 5 things that are making me happy every week to help me appreciate life a little more, and inspire you to do the same. Here are my five, I hope you enjoy!

5 things that are making me happy, right now:

Pumpkin Spice//Pumpkin coffee

The fact that it's October, my favorite month out of the year makes me all kinds of happy.I started drinking pumpkin coffee back in September when it wasn't exactly "acceptable" and I was forced to drink it black due to the fact that the creamer hadn't hit stores yet. I tried numerous coffee creamer flavors paired with it, and it just wasn't the same as pumpkin spice. Finally Pumpkin creamer came back, I've already been through four bottles, and I'm so not ashamed! I go to bed each night excited to have my morning coffee, and all its pumpkiny goodness. I'm dreading the moment pumpkin is taken off the shelves, but I'm sure it'll stick around through the holidays.

Autumn Sunsets//Late Night Drives

Lately Dustin and I have been going on a lot of adventures across Maine and I'm all for it. We always end up driving back home just in time for sunset. I love this time of year for sunsets, all the colors just seem to be more vivid. There's a crispness in the air, the leaves change, a distinct transition, fall is just a beautiful time. Lately the sunsets have been a mixture of orange and pink, perfect for fall. This time of day is gorgeous in Maine and so peaceful, especially when the sun hits all the foliage. Sunsets are truly a beautiful thing.

Our Loon Mountain getaway//The White Mountains

Back in September I won two adventure passes to Loon Mountain. Loon Mountain is an adventure center/resort in Lincoln, New Hampshire. It was about a two hour drive from our house, and the route we took went through the White Mountains in New Hampshire. We drove through the Kangamangus Highway, a very loopy, but scenic highway and it was beautiful. There was rich colored leaves, and tall mountains everywhere, something you can't help but appreciate. It was a long drive to Lincoln, but the views were incredible, so we didn't mind the long ride. While at Loon Mountain Dustin and I went Gondola Sky-riding (where you ride up a mountain in an enclosed little cube) the views were stunning and the mountain with all the fall foliage was breathtaking. It was a long ride, up and down the mountain, we went twice, just to take in all the scenery. This picture was taken at the top of the mountain, the weather was even perfect for our visit. After going up the mountain, we went glacial cave exploring... I was speechless! The cave formations were absolutely nuts, you could barely fit through some of them, but overall, it was a cool experience. We could have went bungee jumping and zip-lining, but we both came down with a nasty cold, and decided not to. This past weekend was so much fun, even though we were both super sick. Our visit overall was great, but I was even happier just to take in all the colorful fall foliage.

My boyfriend//His patience

What always makes me happy is this guy right here, my best friend, and soulmate. We've been best friends for about five years now, he's my rock. First off: He gets me. We both had a very similar upbringing/family dynamic so we easily connect. I won't get too into details, but through this connection, it has helped us both tremendously, in a growth aspect. It's truly a rare thing to have, a deeper connection with someone who is your best friend and lover. Dustin is an old soul just like me... no explanation needed there. We're both down to earth people, with similar goals for our future together. We both had pretty shitty pasts, with people, situations, and jobs that never felt "right"  until we met one another. He's the most sweetest, caring guy I've ever met, and I love that he is such a genuine, hardworking person. He is always there to support me, and push me to be a better person, and I couldn't ask for a better man. Just the sight, smell, or discussion of him makes me happy.

Going to Camp//Feeding the Gobee's

This week we went up to Jackman, Maine to visit his fathers camp. October is Moose hunting season and the prime time to look for Moose. Where we go, the Moose come right up to the porch, and it's a gorgeous area to watch for all wildlife. The drive was long, but with breathtaking views of mountains, lakes, and fall foliage. When we got up there, we decided to just sit in peace on the porch, taking in all its beauty. From the porch, you see mountains, and plenty of color from the leaves, it's quite the sight to see. After several minutes I started to hear birds flying very close above us, and I screeched a little. Dustin went into the house and grabbed a box of Ritz crackers, and told me we were going to feed them... I heard about these wild birds before from him and his grandmother, but hadn't met them just yet. I watched as Dustin put a cracker in his palm and sure enough, the birds would sit on his hand and slowly eat the cracker. I was in total disbelief, and a little scared, but I had to try it. Holding these birds as they trust you enough to eat from your palm is one of the most beautiful experiences I've had. They're such light, delicate little things, so trusting and excitable. We fed them for about twenty minutes, and I snapped a few shots to share with you (above) It was such a surreal moment, something that I will forever treasure.

So there you have it, 5 little things that are making me genuinely happy this week. I can't wait to share more with you next week!
