Treating Yourself Well - My Favorite Ways to Treat Myself

Hey all and happy Wednesday! I can't believe it's already AUGUST! The summer has flown by! Honestly, I feel like I haven't done too much this year in terms of travel, or "summertime" activities. I've gone swimming a handful of times, as well as visit my favorite national park (Acadia!) and had my fair share of lazy days spent on the beach. Other than that, I haven't been doing a whole lot of warm weather activities, and for good reason...we're moving cross country very soon! I've been saving my money like crazy, and just getting prepared for our big move. I'm still a little stressed about the whole thing, considering we still don't have an exact date just yet, we just know it may be this month, or early September. Transferring jobs sounds so easy, but trust me, it's definitely not! I feel like this entire summer I've felt the weight of the world on my chest, and honestly, it's just not my cup of tea. Today I felt the need to share with you all my all time favorite ways to treat myself, because we all need a little TLC sometimes. Lately I find the need to do one of these things at least once a day to keep sane. When stress strikes, you have to find time out of your day to treat yourself. Here are my favorite ways to treat myself.

Window shopping/actual shopping!

I'm a woman, so obviously.....I love to shop! Honestly, whenever I'm feeling down, or just in need of a good pick me up, I go window shopping. As crazy as it sounds, I love treating myself to a day spent looking around. Regardless if I'm buying anything or not, I love to wander. Last weekend I got all of the household related chores done, picked up a latte at Starbucks and I headed to Nordstrom Rack. I ended up trying on rompers, and dresses I never would have taken a second look at, and honestly, it brought me out of my comfort zone. I love spending alone time wandering around some of my favorite stores, even if I'm not shopping for anything in particular. There's just something so relaxing about spending alone time with yourself with no agenda.

Pampering myself

I have just about a million face masks in my bathroom and I love getting the chance to use them! Working in the beauty industry, you test A LOT of products, and receive a ton of free stuff! One of my favorite ways to really treat myself, is to pamper myself. I wont lie, I love devoting an hour or two of my weekend to taking care of myself. I love slathering on my favorite face mask, shaping my eyebrows, and deep conditioning my hair. I love to light some candles, and type up a blog post as I let my hair/face masks do their job. I love that these are all things I can do from the comfort of my home, all the while having some much needed quiet time. Of all the beauty rituals I have, I think taking care of my skin and hair has to be my favorite.

Reading

Growing up, in my household, we didn't go out much. We never had the money to go anywhere, or really do a whole lot more than get outside in the great outdoors. Growing up that way has totally made me into the outdoor loving girl that I am today, and for that I'm thankful. Other than hiking, swimming, or exploring the great outdoors, you could always find me reading. Growing up I was almost always found at the library, curled up with a good novel. Still to this very day, I'm still a huge reader. Lately, I haven't found the time to crack open a new book due to my chaotic schedule, but I find the time to read. My favorite ways to treat myself lately, is by purchasing a few magazines. If you came into our room, you would notice I have an entire bookshelf, half novels, half fitness/health magazines...you could say I'm a hoarder I suppose. There's nothing I love more than picking up Cosmo, Self Magazine or Womens Health at my local grocery store. They always have such great articles and self improvement tips, I can't help but treat myself to a $3 magazine! Overall, this is my favorite way to treat myself, anytime, anywhere.

What are some of your favorite ways to treat yourself? I'd love to hear!
